Dr. Enkeleda Dervishi, participated as a speaker and mentor at the Girls of Promise conference held this Saturday, April 17th here at UALR! Girls of Promise introduces 8th grade girls to professional women role models with careers utilizing STEM-related knowledge. Girls of Promise-UALR featured careers in information technology, engineering, banking & money management, medical fields and more. Margaret A. Cavanaugh, Deputy Assistant Director, Directorate for Geosciences of the National Science Foundation, delivered the keynote presentation. First Lady Ginger Beebe and KATV’s Jessica Dean also spoke. Dr. Dervishi led and visited with 4 different group of girls (most in 8th grade) and showed them the Nanocenter such as the microscopy room and the instrumentation labs.
