College Now Known as ‘Engineering and Information Technology’

To reflect its increased focus on providing much-needed engineering and information technology graduates for Arkansas employers, UALR’s Donaghey College of Information Science and Systems Engineering (also known as the “CyberCollege”) has been renamed. Both the University of Arkansas System and the Arkansas Department of Higher Education recently agreed to change the college’s name to the Donaghey College of Engineering and Information Technology – to be abbreviated as simply EIT. UALR Chancellor Joel Anderson announced the change in the Aug. 16 year-opening University Assembly Meeting. “In adopting the new EIT name for our college, we have renewed our commitment to meeting the growing needs of Arkansas’ knowledge-based economy,” said Dr. Mary L. Good, the college’s founding dean. In recent years, UALR’s EIT has continued to develop strong partnerships with state and national companies. With their support and advice, the college has strengthened and expanded its programs to empower UALR graduates to be proactive employees working on the “cutting edges” of technology. “The new name better reflects our broad and progressive emphasis on engineering, applied technology programs and information technology,” Good said. “As EIT, the college will move boldly ahead, thanks to our corporate partnerships, faculty, and staff who are all dedicated to our mission.”
