Sales Center Offers Unique Opportunities to Develop Critical Skill
It’s an old adage made famous – and commercially profitable – by former Fuller Brush man and Parade Magazine Publisher Arthur “Red” Motley: “Nothing happens until somebody sells something.” That “something” is happening at UALR’s Center for Professional Selling, a unique and bustling hub where groups of students are taking advantage of the latest offerings in the College of Business designed to prepare them for real life and a successful career. “Of 4,000 university-level business programs, only about 35 nationwide offer a professional sales program,” said Dr. Steve Edison, associate professor in marketing and advertising and director of the new sales center. “Training students for sales is a current movement on college campuses, and UALR is leading the pack in the state of Arkansas.” Sales Center classes are offered to all students regardless of majors, and 80 students are currently enrolled in the four classes available this fall. Of those students, 15 have decided to declare an official minor in professional sales, and many more have expressed interest in pursuing the track.
