Furniture Techniques Highlight Open Studio Event

UALR’s Applied Design Department is hosting an Open Studio from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, offering student and faculty works for sale, demonstrations of woodworking techniques, and an opportunity to acquire a unique sculptural cabinet. Mia Hall, a professor of furniture design, said tickets can be purchased in the Art Office – $3 per ticket or eight tickets for $20 – benefiting the department’s Visiting Artist Fund. Several prizes will be awarded to donors, including a 12-inch teardrop-shaped sculptural cabinet. “It is painted and carved and inside, it has an image transfer image of a rose,” Hall said.
