Alum Named President of HSU

UALR graduate Charles Welch, who earned his doctoral degree in higher education administration at UALR, has been named the 15th president of Henderson State University. Welch began his higher education career at UALR in 1997 as an adjunct instructor in the Department of Political Science and continued in that role until he finished his doctoral studies. He was named chancellor of the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope in 2005. He was the president of the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges until 2007 when he became a consultant-evaluator for the Peer Review Corps of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
