Shields Fills Two Coaching Slots
UALR head men’s basketball coach Steve Shields filled two openings on his coaching staff this week with the addition of Joe Golding from Abilene Christian University (ACU) and Marlon Terry from Angelina College and the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP). “I’m excited to bring Joe and Marlon on board,” said Shields. “Both of these guys have good recruiting ties and will be a great fit for our program and the University.” Golding spent the past three seasons as the top assistant to head coach Jason Copeland at Abilene Christian, where his primary duties included recruiting, scouting, and on-floor coaching. A former point guard at ACU from 1994-98, he was also responsible for coaching the Wildcat guards. Terry spent the 2007-08 campaign as an assistant coach at Angelina College, after serving the previous three seasons as a student assistant at Texas-El Paso. In addition to his collegiate experience, Terry gained coaching experience at a prep school in Philadelphia, and various AAU teams, where he worked with three players who went on to play in the National Basketball Association. Terry earned his bachelor’s degree in just three years at UTEP, and is currently working towards his master’s degree.View more stories in News
