Health Services Contingent Wins Spirit Award
A group of 15 UALR students and staff won the Spirit Award at a recent BACCHUS Network Area 6 Regional Spring Conference in San Marcos, Texas. The region includes universities from Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Vanessa Lewis, UALR’s coordinator of health promotion, programs, and education, led the group – all of whom are now peer-education certified.
“We had to go through 14 long hours of education and take a test. We all came back certified,” she said.
BACCHUS is a network of more than 32,000 student leaders and advisers who work with more than eight million peers on more than 900 campuses throughout the world. The organization develops tools for campuses consisting of student-friendly training programs, resource manuals, posters, and pamphlets.
