Beta Gamma Sigma Honors U.S. Bank President

UALR’s College of Business Beta Gamma Sigma has named certified public accountant Michael Shelley, president for U.S. Bank in Arkansas, its Chapter Honoree for 2010. The presentation was made May 7.

Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a program accredited by AACSB.

Shelley is responsible for commercial, consumer, and trust banking throughout the state. He has more than 30 years experience as a commercial banking executive and corporate CFO and CPA for Deloitte & Touche. Shelley is a member of Fifty for the Future, chair of Baptist Health Foundation, director and immediate past chairman of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra board, and serves on the boards of the Arkansas Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce.

He taught for many years in the University of North Carolina Advanced Management Program, where he served four years as administrator. He has also been on the Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking faculty for six years.

Presented by Dr. Roger Roderick, interim associate dean for special projects of the College of Business, the Chapter Honoree award goes to someone who has achieved distinction in business and administration and possesses qualities that Beta Gamma Sigma fosters in its commitment to the advancement of business thought and practice to encourage lifelong learning.
