UALR Honors MLK

The Office of Campus Life invites all members of the UALR community and the public to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in a candlelight vigil at the Cooper Fountain at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Day. The candlelight vigil is one of four events scheduled to honor the contributions of Dr. King. A full list of activities is below.

MLK Candlelight Vigil – Honor the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in a candlelight vigil at the Cooper Fountain at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Day.

Cake and Punch Celebration – The celebration continues on the first day of the spring semester with MLK birthday cake and punch that will be served from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Donaghey Student Center Upper Concourse. This event is co-sponsored by Sodexo Catering.

Dinner and a MovieSodexo will also co-sponsor dinner and a movie – “King: Man of Peace in a Time of War” – at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Diamond Area at the DSC.

MLK Service Project: Blue Jean Drive – You can support the MLK Service Project by donating jeans for Our House and The Centers for Youth & Families. The Blue Jean Drive will be in the DSC Diamond Area from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 18. Donate a pair of jeans, receive a free MLK t-shirt.
