Members of the Arkansas chapter of the American Chemical Society, the Central Arkansas Local Section, have named UALR chemistry professor Dr. Ali U. Shaikh as the chapter’s “Professor of the Year.”

The group also honored two of UALR’s graduating seniors in chemistry. Chris Finlay of Sherwood, president of the local section, and Jessica Hartman of Conway were cited for their scholarship in chemistry and their service to the society as well as the UALR Department of Chemistry.

The central Arkansas local section is made up of members from local chemistry departments, including UCA, Hendrix, Henderson State, Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas State, and Arkansas Tech.
