Littlefield to Speak at ‘Festival of Ideas’ Sept. 22
Dr. Daniel Littlefield, director of UALR’s Sequoyah National Research Center, will be among the presenters at the inaugural Festival of Ideas, a day-long celebration Saturday, Sept. 22, of the ingenuity and achievements of 50 of the most influential people in Arkansas.
The festival, sponsored by the Arkansas Times, celebrates the news magazine’s 2012 list of “50 of the Most Influential People in Arkansas.”
The list of influential people includes UALR Chancellor Joel E. Anderson, professor of applied science and director of the UALR Earthquake Center Dr. Haydar al-Shukri, Littlefield, and Sequoyah Center co-founders Dr. James Parins and J.W. Wiggins.
Littlefield will speak at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Old State House.
He, Parrins, and Wiggins created the unique institution on the UALR campus for research into Native American arts and letters. Littlefield will talk about the work of the Sequoyah Research archives and UALR’s standing nationally in Native American studies.
