UALR Sustainability Day set for Oct. 23
Sustainability Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Donaghey Student Center, upper concourse, at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
UALR’s annual Sustainability Day celebrates the Earth and the practices that protect it with recycling and water conservation efforts and a tour of the Campus Garden.
Electronics Recycling
One of the main focuses of this year’s event is electronics recycling. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to bring electronics to recycle including batteries, CDs, and other items of similar size.
In addition to the recycling, there will be informational booths set up to share information about programs sponsored by campus and community organizations.
Campus Garden
At 1 p.m., members of the campus family are invited to bring their own compost and walk to the Campus Garden, near the public parking deck facing Fair Park Boulevard. A tour of the garden will follow.

Take Back the Tap program
The Sustainability Committee will also provide water bottles to those interested in signing up for the “Take Back the Tap” program, an initiative designed to reduce the consumption of bottled water (plastic containers) and and increasing the use of reusable eco-friendly refillable water bottles.
The event is sponsored by the UALR Sustainability Committee, which seeks to inform, educate, and encourage students, faculty, and staff to conserve resources and protect the environment.
