Final Cooper Lecture series set for Nov. 7
The UALR English Department and the William G. Cooper Jr. Honors Program in English has announced that poet and novelist, Victoria Redel, will be among the speakers for the final Cooper Lecture of the fall semester.
Redel will read from her works at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in room 123 of Ross Hall. A reception precedes the reading at 5:45 p.m. Both are free and open to the public.
The reading is in conjunction with Assistant Professor Nickole Brown’s Cooper seminar, “Writing between Borders: Prose, Poetry, Hybrid Literature.” As a faculty member in the English department, Brown focuses on creative writing, poetry, and publishing.
Redel is on the faculty at Sarah Lawrence College and is the author of three books of poetry, including “Woman Without Umbrella,” and two collections of short stories.
She has also written two novels including “The Border of Truth and Loverboy,” which was made into the 2005 movie, “Loverboy,” starring Kyra Sedgwick and directed by Kevin Bacon.
