Chemical uses of wood the focus of research colloquium
The UALR Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) will host a research colloquium Oct. 8 featuring a presentation by Dr. Tito Viswanathan, professor of chemistry and associate dean for research and graduate studies in the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences.
The 1 p.m. event in Room 535 of Ottenheimer Library, open to faculty, staff, and students, is the second in a series of presentations designed to encourage interdisciplinary conversations and collaboration on campus.
Viswanathan’s presentation, “Novel chemical uses of wood,” will feature his research at UALR that led to the commercialization of wood-based composites. One of the main focuses of Viswanathan’s research has been renewable resource utilization, and he currently is working on using elements of renewable resources as energy materials and in water purification.
ORSP encourages the campus community to attend each of the colloquium presentations as an opportunity to engage with the ideas of their fellow scholars.
