Wife Presents Alumni President with Endowment Surprise
Elaine Eubank, chief executive officer of the North Little Rock-based CareLink senior assistance organization, surprised her husband, Alfred Williams, by establishing a $15,000 UALR Alumni Association Scholarship.
The new Alfred Williams Endowed Alumni Scholarship was created to mark Williams’ second year as president of the UALR association. It will be the third scholarship the pair has endowed at their alma mater.
UALR is a family tradition. Williams is a 1966 graduate, and Eubank graduated in 1975. Grainger Williams, Alfred’s father, was a 1931 alumnus and a former chair of the Little Rock University’s Board of Visitors. Grainger Williams also was a 1957 distinguished alumnus.
Eubank’s surprise will help the alumni president’s goal of growing the association’s endowment.
“I want us to continue to grow our Alumni Association‘s active membership and specifically to increase its endowment, so that we are in a position to offer more scholarships to UALR students,” Williams said earlier this year.
In addition to his service on the alumni board, Williams is also a member of the UALR Foundation Fund Board and the College of Business Advisory Council.
Since 1989, Williams has been senior vice president of the Commercial and Non-Medical Professional Division at Ramsey, Krug, Farrell, & Lensing Insurance in Little Rock.
A Dale Carnegie associate and 1990 graduate of Leadership Greater Little Rock, Williams was an executive committee member for the Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas. He is a former board member for the Little Rock Sister Cities Commission, Rotary Club 99, Arkansas Opera Company, Wildwood Park for the Arts, Metropolitan YMCA, Museum of Discovery, and Presbyterian Village of Little Rock.
