Sustainability Committee Calls for Grant Proposals
All full-time and part-time UALR faculty and instructors are invited to submit proposals to fund development of new or substantially enrich existing sustainability-related courses, The deadline for submitting proposals is 5 p.m. Friday, March 4.
The UALR Sustainability Committee is offering one award of $400 for the development of a new sustainability-themed course. Two awards of $200 are available for the enrichment of existing courses with sustainability topics or content.
Proposals can budget money for travel, educational materials, equipment purchases, field trips, guest speakers, or more. Funds will be distributed by way of budget transfer to departmental accounts to be spent on behalf of grantees. Grants are to be spent by the end of 2011 fiscal year.
Recipients of grants will be expected to report to the Sustainability Committee the results of their activities and show evidence regarding the completion of their grants. Grantees will also be expected to present their activities at a half-day sustainability symposium on campus.
The symposium is tentatively scheduled to coincide with Earth Day on April 22. Presentations will be in either oral or poster format.
