Seniors who graduate this fall and plan to walk during the December commencement can register for a chance to win a free cap and gown.

The UALR Alumni Association will furnish 12 lucky UALR graduates with reimbursements up to $65 for their caps and gowns purchased through the UALR Bookstore.

Graduates should register for the chance to win the free cap and gown through the UALR Alumni Association at GradFest from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 10 and 11, at the Donaghey Student Center Lower Concourse.

Graduates who are volunteers and active members of the UALR Alumni Association, including those participating in the UALR Grads@Work ad campaign, will visit with soon-to-be alumni to share the importance of joining the Alumni Association and about some of the best member benefits the association has ever offered.

New graduates are encouraged to join the association for a special discounted new-grad rate of $20 annually. Membership dues support current students through programs such as the cap and gown scholarship. Many graduates demonstrate their loyalty and dedication to UALR by becoming early lifetime members in the association.

A lifetime membership is $500 and is a 95 percent tax-deductible contribution to the UALR Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship Program. This fall, 18 students received Alumni Association scholarships.
