Keep Little Rock Beautiful cleanup planned at Curran Conway March 8
The Curran Conway “ParKnership,” a group of organizations committed to improving Curran Conway Park located in the University District, is organizing a clean-up event for Saturday, March 8.
The event is a part of the Keep Little Rock Beautiful citywide clean-up campaign. It will begin with coffee and donuts at 8 a.m., and the clean-up will begin by 8:30 a.m.
Curran Conway Park is located in the Oak Forest/Fair Park neighborhood, on South Harrison Street, between 24th and 26th streets. Organizers will meet in the parking lot in front of Gary Hogan Field, the UALR Trojan baseball stadium.
Work on the park will end at noon, at which time the Fair Park Neighborhood Association will serve hot dogs, chips, and soft drinks, according to University District Director Ron Copeland.
“This is an opportunity to make a real contribution to the community around the UALR campus,” he said.
Join the campaign, volunteer
Copeland said more than 100 volunteers from area organizations are expected, and UALR students are welcome to participate.
“This is also an opportunity for UALR students to meet and work with people from all walks of life,” Copeland said. “We will also provide letters to document service hours for UALR students.”
Among the organizations involved is Interfaith Arkansas, an interdenominational group that represents several Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, and Islamic faith groups.
Other partners include the Fair Park Residents Association, University District Partnership, World Services for the Blind, the UALR Trojan baseball team, UALR Children International, Oak Forest Community Garden, and the City of Little Rock Parks and Recreation.
The next planning meeting for the event is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the University District building located in the University Plaza parking lot. Student representatives are welcome to attend.
