Endowment Honors Teacher, Banker, Lawyer Nancy H. Bailey
A new endowed scholarship to benefit non-traditional students at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law has been established in the memory of Nancy Hall Bailey.
A speech and drama teacher at Hall High School, a former vice president at Union National Bank, Bailey was a lifelong learner, earning a law degree from the Bowen school at the age of 66. Bailey died in January 2007.
Memorials in her memory have exceeded $20,000, establishing an endowment that will fund a scholarship for a non-traditional law student, particularly a student who returns to formal schooling after being out of the classroom for an extended period of time.
“There is a tremendous need for support for non-traditional students who juggle jobs, family, and school,” said Bowen Dean John DiPippa. “This scholarship is a fitting memorial to a wonderful woman whose road to law school was varied and unique.”
Bailey was the daughter of former Arkansas Secretaries of State and State Treasurer, Nancy J. Hall and C.G. “Crip” Hall. Her husband, Robert “Bob” Bailey, was the son of the late Arkansas Gov. Carl Edward Bailey.
