Little Rock favorite David LaMotte to perform June 2

Performer David LaMotte will share fan favorites, new songs, and stories from recent travels in his “Songs of Hope” concert at 7 p.m. Monday, June 2, at Philander Smith College.

LaMotte is a fan favorite in the Little Rock area, having performed for many years at Acoustic Sounds Cafe.

His performance is sponsored by the UALR Disability Resource Center. All net proceeds will support student scholarships at UALR.

Tickets to the performance are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. All students and senior ticket prices are $12.

LaMotte has performed more than 2,500 concerts, released 11 full-length CDs of primarily original music and toured in 48 of the 50 states, as well as extensively in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

He suspended his 18-year music career at its peak in 2008 to accept a Rotary World Peace Fellowship to obtain a master’s degree in international studies, peace and conflict resolution at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. As part of that degree, he also spent three months in rural Andhra Pradesh, India, working with a Gandhian development organization.
