COB Honors Geissler
Dr. Gary L. Geissler, professor of marketing, won the 2010 Harper W. Boyd Jr. Professor of Excellence Award at UALR’s College of Business’ 33rd Annual Honors and Awards ceremony May 7.
Geissler, who has taught 20 different marketing and advertising courses at UALR, works with his students in the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at UALR conducting more than 100 projects for local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies.
The Boyd Professor of Excellence was established to recognize a professor for his or her distinction as a scholar, a teacher, and a leader in the college, university, and community.
Geissler’s research interests include various advertising and consumer behavior issues, new product development, and innovative teaching methods.
He has received several international, national, and college teaching awards to include: the 2009 Hormel Foods/Marketing Management Association Meritorious Teaching Award, 2004 and 2008 UALR College of Business Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award, 2007 International Society of Business Disciplines Teaching Excellence Award, 2007 Sherwin-Williams Distinguished Marketing Teacher Award finalist, 2002 Prentice-Hall/American Marketing Association Award for Innovative Excellence in Marketing Education, and 1997 University of Georgia Kathryn H. Hunnicutt Award for Teaching Excellence.
Geissler received a B.S. degree in business administration and an MBA from Louisiana State University and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Prior to his doctoral work, he was an account manager/project director for Decision Analyst Inc., an advertising and marketing research firm; a senior marketing research analyst at Coors Brewing Company; and a marketing research manager for US West (now Qwest).
