Bowen School Welcomes PLUS Undergrads June 7

A dinner at 6 p.m. Monday, June 7, will welcome 19 outstanding undergraduates from across the United States chosen to participate in the eighth consecutive Pre Law Undergraduate Scholars (PLUS) Program at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. The banquet will be held at the Bowen School’s newly renovated Student Lounge. Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Ron L. Sheffield, a Bowen alum, will be the keynote speaker.

The goal of the month-long program is to increase law school enrollment of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession. This year, program organizers will work with students in both group and individualized settings to strengthen their law school applications and personal statements.

They will learn skills necessary to excel on the LSAT.  The program will simulate law school by presenting substantive classes and teaching them how to brief cases, outline course material, and take law school examinations.

Students also will be introduced to the “life of a lawyer” by meeting and interacting with practicing attorneys in the area.
