UALR to Host 2012 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship First and Second Rounds

‘SpectacUALR’ Raises Record $195,000

The second annual “SpectacUALR,” a benefit for Trojan athlete scholarships presented by Windstream Communications, raised nearly $195,000 at Oct. 14 gala, surpassing the record total raised at the 2009 inaugural event.

Women’s Basketball Coaches to Hold Coaching Clinic Oct. 8 to 10

The women’s basketball coaching staff will host a coaching clinic beginning at 5 p.m Friday, Oct. 8, and concluding at 11 a.m. Sunday. Coaches who attend the clinic will get to watch live practice with the UALR women’s basketball team followed by breakdown sessions and a question-and-answer session with Head Coach Joe Foley.  Dinner will be provided Saturday night during a Q&A session.

Peoples Named Women’s Basketball Director of Operations

Rebecca Chilton Peoples, a 17-year veteran basketball coach, has been named director of operations for UALR Women’s Basketball. Peoples joins the UALR basketball staff after an eight-year stint as assistant basketball coach at Arkansas State University.

Abby Wilson Named At-Risk Academic Advisor

UALR Head Women’s Tennis Coach Abby Wilson was named at-risk academic advisor starting the 2010-11 academic season. Along with her tennis coaching responsibilities, Wilson will serve as the primary advisor for those students designated as at-risk.

Trojan Legend Records Olympic Trial Marathon Time

Former UALR cross country and track and field athlete and two-time Little Rock Marathon winner Leah Thorvilson recorded an Olympic Trial qualifying time of 2:41:52 and won the Fargo Marathon Saturday in Fargo, N.D.
