The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund will present a day-long continuing legal education (CLE) course in Practical Animal Law on Friday, April 2, at the UALR Bowen School of Law.

A new endowed scholarship to benefit non-traditional students at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law has been established in the memory of Nancy Hall Bailey.

Ron Sheffield, a former UALR baseball player and graduate of UALR and the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law, was appointed associate justice of the state Supreme Court last week. Gov. Mike Beebe named Sheffield to the court to serve the unexpired term of retired Justice Annabelle Clinton Imber.

Students from the UALR Bowen School of Law recently completed training for a unique volunteer opportunity with the Diocese of Little Rock’s Catholic Charities Immigration Services.

At a recent opening for the exhibit “Law in a Land Without Justice: Nazi Germany 1933-1945” at the UALR Bowen School of Law Library, Wilson and Associates PLLC pledged a total donation of $100,000 over three years.

UALR William H. Bowen School of Law Dean John M.A. DiPippa has been named to the board of directors for the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation (APCF) beginning Jan.1, 2010.

UALR’s Bowen School of Law will mark the American Bar Association (ABA) National Celebration of Pro Bono with a series of events held Oct. 26 to 31 designed to show the importance of the law community’s volunteering its time to benefit good causes.

Alan Gura, a Washington, D.C., based attorney whose practice focuses on constitutional law, will speak at noon Friday, Oct. 16, in Room 505 at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. His talk is sponsored by the Federalist Society UALR Bowen Law School Chapter.

Dean John DiPippa will hold his first State of the School forum at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in Room 323 of  UALR’s  William H. Bowen School of Law. In addition to the live audience of students, faculty, and staff, DiPippa’s address and discussion will be broadcast live on Ustream (https://www.ustream.tv/channel/ualr-bowen-state-of-the-school-address).
