Jessica Hartman of Conway, a UALR senior majoring in chemistry, was a two-time winner at the recent Arkansas Academy of Science at Southern Arkansas University.
Ryne Ramaker, a senior UALR Donaghey Scholar and University Science Scholar with a double major in biology and chemistry, is a co-author of a cancer research paper creating excitement among other researchers.

Dr. Jeff Gaffney, chair of the Department of Chemistry, has been asked to serve another term as a member of the American Chemical Society’s Committee on Chemistry and Public Affairs, a joint committee of the society’s council and board of directors.
UALR Donaghey Scholar Ryne Ramaker of Bentonville, a biology and chemistry double major, was recognized with an Honorable Mention for his research on a treatment for a form of liver cancer.
Dr. Joseph Francisco, 2010 president of the American Chemical Society, will meet with UALR faculty and students from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, in Fribourgh Hall room 102. Francisco will be receiving an honorary doctorate of science at UALR’s spring commencement ceremonies Saturday.
