It’s Computer Science Education Week, an annual call to celebrate the contributions of students, teachers, and partners in the field.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host Nerd Night Oct. 19 to highlight the exciting opportunities, research, and activities taking place in the Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Dr. Aryabrata Basu, an expert in virtual reality and digital visualization, has joined the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as an assistant professor of computer science and research fellow for the Emerging Analytics Center, the university’s premier research center for virtual/augmented reality, visualization, and interactive technologies.

About a dozen junior high and high school students spent a week learning how to create immersive games and virtual reality content for Meta during a virtual reality summer camp held Aug. 1-5 at UA Little Rock.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host a free Community Coding Day on Saturday, Dec. 4, to encourage members of the community to learn more about computer science education and innovations in Arkansas.
