A University of Arkansas at Little Rock professor is part of an international research network that has been awarded more than £15 million pounds, or $19.6 million, to address gendered dimensions of injustice and insecurity around the world. 

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock honored Little Rock-area women working in public service and government careers.

Dr. Lisa Corrigan will present a lecture at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in Dickinson Auditorium at UALR.

UALR’s Gender Studies Program, in conjunction with the Clinton School of Public Service, will screen a new, award-winning documentary “The Invisible War,” on Nov. 14, examining sexual assaults in the military.

A panel discussion will follow a screening of the Sundance film, “Miss Representation,” that looks at how the portrayal of women in the media can affect their capacity as leaders.

Elizabeth Bintliff, interim vice president of Heifer International’s Africa Program, will help UALR celebrate International Women’s Day Thursday, March 8, with a lecture titled “Women and Development.”

A screening of “Playing Fair: The Media Image of the Female Athlete” and a discussion of female athleticism will be presented at 6 p.m. Friday, March 2, in UALR’s Donaghey Student Center Room D.

UALR’s Gender Studies Program presents a brown bag panel discussion from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, titled, “Men and Gender: Perspectives on Masculinity, Male Identity, and Desire.”

The UALR Gender Studies program is hosting a walk-a-thon from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Big Dam Bridge in Little Rock. Registration for the walk is $5.
