A memorial service is scheduled for Dr. Ethel Preston Trice, professor emeritus of Health Education at UALR, who recently passed away.

The UALR College of Science, the second largest college within the university, will hold its annual awards ceremony and reception at 4 p.m., Friday, April 26.

Dr. Bennie Prince, Health, Human Performance, and Sport Management teaching coordinator at UALR, was recently named president of a statewide professional organization.

A course developed by Nita Copeland, an instructor in the UALR Department of Health Sciences, has been named a 2012 Blackboard Exemplary Course.

Three journals on the business of sports will publish research articles by two UALR health sciences professors, including one that suggests the behavior of rabid sports fans causes physical health risks.

Fitness trainers, personal trainers, fitness enthusiasts, and school physical education teachers are invited to the UALR campus Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18, for a workshop on Punk Rope, a total fitness program for kids and adults that uses simple jump rope moves to improve physical health.

Dr. Amar Kanekar, assistant professor in the Department of Health Sciences, had his article, “Childhood Obesity: A Global Public Health Crisis,” published in The International Journal of Preventive Medicine.

More than 250 University District residents participated in UALR’s Wellness Fair Thursday, Sept. 15 through Saturday, Sept. 17, joining students, faculty, and staff for free health assessments.
