The Friends of KLRE/KUAR will host the third annual Block, Beer & Bourbon event on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, to celebrate public radio and to raise funds for UA Little Rock Public Radio stations KUAR FM 89.1 and KLRE Classical 90.5.

Reporters from KUAR, one of two University of Arkansas at Little Rock public radio stations, and Arkansas Public Media, also based at UA Little Rock, won several Diamond Journalism Awards. The awards program is a regional annual competition sponsored by the Arkansas Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. 

UA Little Rock Public Radio, home of KUAR and KLRE, surpassed its fall drive fundraising goal of $100,000, earning $113,657 throughout its one-week 2018 Fall Fund Drive. 

When Michael Hibblen learned that the century-old Rock Island Railroad Depot in Perry, Arkansas, had been saved from demolition, he was thrilled that a unique piece of history would be preserved for future generations.
