The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Police Department will host a self-defense class and a Rape Aggression Defense class in September and October. 

After 23 years on the job, Assistant Chief Johnny Smith, 52, of Little Rock, has become a familiar presence on campus, earning the moniker of “Officer Friendly” for his upbeat, polite attitude while protecting the university community. 

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock honored five police officers during a Feb. 2 ceremony for their part in saving the life of a man found unresponsive in his vehicle. 

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is helping take a bite out of crime by partnering with the Little Rock Police Department to combat the rise of violent crime in the city over the past two years. 

Five students at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock proudly walked across the stage at Jack Stephens Center on Dec. 17 to receive their college diplomas, thanks in large part to a scholarship program from the Facilities Management Department. 

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock University District honored a 22-year veteran of the UALR Police Department as its UALR Police Officer of the Year.

Law enforcement officers from throughout Arkansas have the chance to hear from a police official who led the officer response to the 2014 protests in Ferguson, Missouri, during an Aug. 29 workshop at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

A familiar face has returned to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to become the new vice chancellor for finance and administration.

Throughout September, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock hosted numerous training sessions and activities designed to highlight and emphasize safety. One of the featured safety initiatives — celebrated with the obstacle-style Green Dot Amazing Race on Sept. 25 —  began with an effort to change the culture on campus in the fall of 2012.

Regina Wade-Carter was appointed Director of Public Safety and UALR Chief of Police, effective Dec. 1.
