The University District Development Corporation, based at UA Little Rock, has received a $15,000 donation from the Cadence Bank Foundation (formerly BancorpSouth Bank Foundation) to help begin the district’s new rental program.

University District will use the grant to help fix up four houses that will serve as the first of University District’s rental program.

“There are always a lot of unknowns when renovating houses, and some of these houses require substantial rehabilitation,” said Barrett Allen, executive director of University District. “We are deeply grateful to Cadence Bank for stepping in to support our affordable housing efforts. Your commitment to our community is inspiring, and we are grateful for your partnership in this important endeavor.”

Located in the heart of Little Rock and anchored by the UA Little Rock campus, the University District community includes the homes, workplaces, and schools for thousands of families, workers, business owners, teachers, and students. It includes the Broadmoor, Fair Park, Four Corners, Point O Woods, South of Asher, University West, University Park, and War Memorial neighborhoods.

“We believe in the UDDC’s mission and are proud to support their efforts to promote economic growth and opportunity in underserved areas for a more equitable and prosperous Little Rock,” said Ty Warren, Northwest regional president at Cadence Bank. “Our donation will help the UDDC continue its important work in the communities we serve and  we are excited to contribute to an organization that focuses on this work.”
