UA Little Rock Honored as Phi Kappa Phi Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, recently recognized the University of Arkansas at Little Rock chapter of Phi Kappa Phi as a Circle of Excellence Silver Chapter.
The Circle of Excellence program was introduced in 2018. The program recognized 74 chapters this year, including 38 with the Silver distinction. The award is given to chapters that exceed expectations in chapter operations and who demonstrate sustainability and vitality as a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi.
“What a wonderful honor this is for our chapter,” said Christine Jones, UA Little Rock chapter president as well as academic editor and web manager for the Office of Records and Registration. “We are very excited and proud to be named a Silver Circle of Excellence Chapter for the 2023-2024 school year by the national office. This just means that we will be striving for the Gold Circle for the 2024-2025 school year.”
By receiving the Silver distinction, the UA Little Rock chapter is recognized as a thriving organization that holds annual initiations, upholds the society bylaws, regularly attends chapter training opportunities, and submits a chapter-endorsed nominee to the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Program.
“The cornerstone of Phi Kappa Phi is constituted by our chapters and officers,” Society Executive Director and CEO Bradley Newcomer said. “We take immense pride in acknowledging and celebrating the chapters that embody our mission by presenting them with the Circle of Excellence Awards.”
Chapters achieving the Circle of Excellence Silver distinction receive a commendation letter from the society sent to chapter officers and campus administration, a special recognition on the Phi Kappa Phi website, a specially designed logo for use in chapter communications, and a $100 cash award.
