UA Little Rock students prepare for the upcoming theatre production, "The Theory of Relativity."

The School of Literary and Performing Arts invites the public to see “The Theory of Relativity,” a musical from Drama Desk Award nominees Neil Bartram and Brian Hill that explores interconnectedness and shared experiences.

Stacy Pendergraft, producing artistic director, will direct, Lorissa Mason, director of choral activities, will lead music, and Caelon Colbert, coordinating assistant, will oversee choreography and act as assistant director.

“The musical introduces a compelling array of characters experiencing the joys and heartbreaks, the liaisons and losses, the inevitability and the wonder of human connection,” Pendergraft said. “The musical is a perfect vehicle to showcase our students both onstage, backstage, and in the pit as we continue our mission of integration across the School of Literary and Performing Arts.”

UA Little Rock students starring in the production include Lawson Bear, Emma Bertram, Kyndal Collins, Joshua Gregory, Shelby Loftis, Dani Morris, Marionna Parker, Levey Saintil, and Jaylyn Thomas.

The School of Literary and Performing Arts team and its students have been rehearsing for the shows since January.

“My main duty is to be able to tell and translate a cohesive story through movement and not let the choreography overshadow the impact of a story,” Colbert said. “Our vision for the show is based around virtual reality video gaming… an extremely different concept than what we have seen with the show before, and it has been fascinating to witness how it unfolds as the designers and actors bring this technological world to life.”

Shows will run on Wednesday, March 5 through Sunday, March 9 in Haislip Theatre on UA Little Rock’s campus. The public can attend 7:30 p.m. showings on March 5 through 8, or they can attend 2:30 p.m. showings on March 8 and 9.

Shows are free and open to the public, but reservations are required online. For additional information, contact Colbert at [email protected] or 501-916-3291.
