Rainwater’s Chapter at UA Little Rock Comes to a Close as He Graduates with Master’s Degree

John Rainwater will conclude his time at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on May 17. He will be graduating with his Master of Business Administration degree.
Rainwater has spent the last six years at UA Little Rock earning two degrees and he admits he’s sad about leaving his home away from home
“It feels kind of weird because I’ve been here the last six years,” he said. “I’m going to miss seeing a lot of people around.”
Having lived in North Little Rock his whole life, UA Little Rock was the only school Rainwater considered attending.
“Being close to home and my family and friends was a top priority,” he said. “I’m thankful that UA Little Rock has given me a chance to experience college while staying in contact with hometown friends and family.”
A highlight of Rainwater’s academic experience was learning from Dr. Mark Funk, director of the School of Business.
“I was already interested in the topic of economics, and when he taught it, it was always very engaging and informative,” Rainwater said.
One of the extracurricular activities Rainwater enjoyed doing was being a Chancellor’s Leadership Corps (CLC) mentor.
“The choice to be one was maybe the best decision I made here. It was so enjoyable and I met people that I’ll continue to keep in contact with after school,” he said.
After graduating, Rainwater plans to work at the accounting firm, Forvis Mazars Group, as an auditor.
He reflects on the lessons college has taught him that will aid him in his future career.
“College has taught me how to meet and relate to people with all sorts of experiences from all over the world, so the networking skills I’ve gained will be a huge benefit for me in my career,” Rainwater said.
