UA Little Rock to Host Nerd Night Oct. 22

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host Nerd Night Oct. 22 to highlight the exciting opportunities, research, and activities taking place in the Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Nerd Night will take place from 5-8 p.m. with star gazing going till 9 p.m.. This event will take place in Parking Lot 8 and the common areas of the Engineering and Information Technology Building at UA Little Rock.
The event is free and open to the UA Little Rock community and members of the public. It will feature food trucks, hands-on activities, demonstrations, and exhibits from on-campus vendors and community partners, as well as raffle prizes.
Current and prospective DCSTEM students can learn about opportunities in the college including research opportunities, leadership programs, honor societies, career pathways, and student organizations within the college.
Some of the activities that will be on hand include sun-gazing and star-gazing at the UA Little Rock Observatory, planetarium showings every 30 minutes, balloon launching, and a keynote session.
The Aerospace Club will have a meteorite marble and flour demonstration. The Emerging Analytics Center will showcase student research projects and applications. There will be many additional activities including cybersecurity challenges, displays from the paleontological collection, and the Central Arkansas Library System fixing broken things through its Repair Cafe.
