Meagan Beaty, Ed.D, NIC, graduated from the University of Arkansas with her A.A. and B.A. in Interpretation: ASL/English in 2013, the University of North Florida with her M.S. in Interpreting Pedagogy in 2017, and Capella University with her Ed.D. in Adult Education. She received her National Interpretation Certificate (NIC) in 2014 from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
Dr. Beaty has been an instructor with UA Little Rock since 2018. She was first hired as an adjunct instructor and then asked to work as an interim full-time instructor starting in 2020 up until being hired as an Associate Professor and the Interpreter Education Program Coordinator in 2022.
Dr. Beaty serves as a mentor to members of the Arkansas Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Board and Biennial Planning Committee for her past positions of President, Program Chair, Biennial Planning Committee Chair, and Student Support Staff Chair. Dr. Beaty also sits on the rater panel for the Arkansas Quality Assurance Screening Test for Interpreting with Arkansas Rehabilitation Services and is a proctor for the Educational Interpreter Proficiency Assessment (EIPA) through Boystown. Providing service to the interpreting and deaf communities is a priority for Dr. Beaty.
Dr. Beaty is a member of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc., Conference of Interpreter Trainers, Arkansas Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Arkansas DeafBlind Community, Arkansas Association of the Deaf, Little Rock Black Deaf Advocates, UA Little Rock’s Sigma Lambda Kappa, and MidSouth Educational Research Association.
