UA Little Rock Partners with Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield to Help Employees Go to College

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is partnering with Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield to provide more opportunities for working Arkansans to have an affordable and accessible college education.

“Partnerships like these reflect our commitment to enhancing educational access for working adults in our community,” UA Little Rock Chancellor Christina Drale said. “Whether they are looking to pick up career-advancing credentials, or want to pursue a personal interest that’s been put on hold for a while, we can offer a wide variety of options in programs, scheduling, and modality. We consider it an honor to be working with a company like Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield that supports our educational mission.”

This partnership will provide a 10-percent discount on tuition and fees, a $25-per-credit-hour book scholarship, and a waived application fee for Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield employees who enroll in undergraduate classes at UA Little Rock.

Founded in 1948, Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, is the largest health insurer in Arkansas. Arkansas Blue Cross and its family of affiliated companies have more than 3,200 employees.

For more than 70 years, Arkansas Blue Cross has been trusted by Arkansans for affordable, reliable insurance plans. Arkansas Blue Cross offers health and dental insurance policies for individuals and families who purchase their insurance directly as well as those whose insurance coverage is provided through their employer.

“Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield is a great place to work!” said Maria Silva, talent acquisition partner at Arkansas Blue Cross. “We are committed to creating an inclusive work environment where employees are engaged in our mission statement.”

UA Little Rock’s new corporate partnership with Arkansas Blue Cross follows partnerships with CHI St. Vincent, Saline Memorial Hospital, and Amazon, providing  opportunities for working adults to earn a college education.

“UA Little Rock is excited to establish a corporate partnership with Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield,” said Dr. Cody Decker, vice chancellor for student affairs and chief data officer. “This agreement provides Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield employees with a streamlined admission process, scholarship on course tuition and fees, and a book stipend for employees that want to start or finish their degree at UA Little Rock.”

When they apply for admission at UA Little Rock, Arkansas Blue Cross employees should check the box to identify themselves as an Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield employee and use the code TROJAN2023 to waive the application fee. No additional application is needed.
