UA Little Rock Open House and Holiday Art Sales Returns Nov. 10-11
It’s the happiest time of the year for art lovers! UA Little Rock will host its annual School of Art and Design Open House and Holiday Art Sale Nov. 10-11.
The art lovers’ weekend will be held from 3-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, and 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, in the Windgate Center of Art + Design.
“This year’s sale will be a little different from years past,” said Andrea “AnDi” Tompkins, art outreach specialist. “To showcase our beautiful building in addition to the creative work of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni, we plan to place artists throughout the Windgate Center of Art + Design. Visitors are encouraged to stop by every table and also enter a drawing for a special door prize.”
Visitors who are curious about the happenings in the School of Art and Design are invited to tour the studios, classrooms, and labs during the Open House from 3-6 p.m. Nov. 10. The School of Art and Design will have a casual reception with cookies and cocoa starting at 6 p.m.
Several faculty members will hold demonstrations from 3:30-6 p.m. These include an art history session on holiday traditions with Dr. Lynne Larsen, bronze pouring with Professor Emeritus Michael Warrick, and screenprinting with Annika Shunn, a staff member, and Kristi Pruett, an art major.
On Friday and Saturday, visitors can also enjoy the School of Art and Design’s Holiday Sale. View unique and beautiful items created by talented art students, faculty, staff, and alumni. UA Little Rock expects to host the original work of more than 70 artists whose work includes drawings, illustrations, paintings, ceramics, graphic design, photography, woodworking, and jewelry.
“The Holiday Sale offers something for everyone, with original artwork sold at varying price points – from stocking stuffers to highend handmade items,” Tompkins said. “Cash and credit cards will be accepted, and all proceeds stay with the individual artists. This is a great way to jumpstart your holiday spirit by purchasing original artwork, adding to your personal art collection, and supporting local artists!”
