More than 1,000 years of music, countless generations of creativity and one powerful theme: the enduring influence of women in music.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Choirs will bring that history to life with “Vox Femme,” a concert celebrating the contributions of women composers across centuries, on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

The program will highlight the creativity and influence of women composers, from the visionary chants of 12th-century composer Hildegard von Bingen to groundbreaking works by contemporary artists.

“By bringing historical masterworks into direct dialogue with contemporary voices, Vox Femme offers a rare illumination of women’s enduring impact on the musical lineage across the centuries,” said Dr. Lorissa Mason, director of choral activities at UA Little Rock.

By bringing together music from different eras, the program will explore how women have shaped the choral tradition and continue to push its boundaries, offering audiences an opportunity to experience both historical masterworks and modern compositions.

Through “Vox Femme,” the UA Little Rock Choirs will celebrate the voices and artistic achievements of women whose music has helped shape more than a millennium of musical history.
