Dr. Jacqueline Burse is an assistant professor in the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s School of Social Work within the College of Education and Health Professions. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. She has extensive clinical experience working with women, children and families in the field of domestic and sexual violence and mental health services. She is a past board member of the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCADSV) and chair of the MCADSV Women of Color Taskforce. She earned her PhD in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington and has presented at national and local conferences on domestic violence in the faith community, youth resiliency, programming for incarcerated women, and minority mental health. She will expand her research interest exploring older women domestic violence experiences including substance abuse, mental illness, faith and spirituality, homelessness, and prevention services. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in intimate partner violence, social policy and mental health, stress, crisis and coping, treatment of children and adolescents, direct practice with children and adolescents, and groups and foundation courses.
