Program Overview
The online writing instruction graduate certificate program is the only graduate-level certificate in the country that provides writing teachers with training specifically in online instruction.
The 18-hour program helps current and new online faculty develop online courses that meet the standards of the Conference on College Composition and Communication Position Statement on Principles and Example Effective Practices for Online Writing Instruction.
Writing teachers or teachers of writing-intensive classes in secondary and higher education settings or curriculum designers who work in business and industry will understand the latest effective practices in delivering and assessing student writing in both hybrid and fully online settings.

Admission Requirements
Students who wish to pursue this certificate program must meet the following requirements:
• Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or better for full admission, or GPA of 2.75 or better for conditional admission
• Submit to UA Little Rock Graduate School. (along with application) a statement of purpose, resume, writing sample, and one letter of recommendation

Graduation Requirements
Students must complete all required courses with a GPA of 3.0 or better to receive their certificate.
In addition to the curriculum listed, students may take any 3-hour elective from the M.A. in Professional and Technical Writing (in consultation with their advisor). Students may also take any 7000-level theory courses from within the Rhetoric and Writing Department as part of the certificate.

Accreditation
UA Little Rock is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, affiliated with the Electronic Campus of the Southern Regional Education Board, and designated as “doctoral/research intensive” by the Carnegie Foundation.
