Survey Research Center awarded AGFC contract for hunter survey
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has awarded a $3,000 contract to the UA Little Rock Survey Research Center to conduct a survey of hunters. Dr. Derek Slagle, an associate professor and director of both the School of Public Affairs and the Survey Research Center, is leading the project to survey hunters who received a 2025 Light Goose Conservation Order permit. After conducting and analyzing the surveys, the center will present a report of the results to the commission.
Under the conservation order, some waterfowl hunting regulations were relaxed for a period of time in order to encourage the increased harvest of Snow, Blue, and Ross’s geese and help balance their populations. Such increased hunting opportunities are one of the preferred tools biologists turn to in controlling populations. This is the 25th consecutive year that the UA Little Rock Survey Research Center has conducted this assessment in coordination with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
The Survey Research Center has been a regional leader in survey research for more than 30 years, and it is the only academic survey research center in the state of Arkansas. Its mission is to support the research and service needs of the university, public entities, businesses, and not-for-profit agencies in the community, and its staff have extensive expertise in questionnaire design, survey implementation, and technical reporting.
