ATLE Lunch and Event: Cultivating an AI-Free Learning Environment

Many learning outcomes and assignments are not compatible with the use of AI as a reading and writing assistant. This session explores why faculty may wish to limit student use of AI  in certain courses, or even in entire academic fields or subfields. We will offer participants strategies for doing so and discuss the challenges we have encountered in creating and enforcing AI-free teaching and learning environments. We welcome faculty from all fields, regardless if they are AI skeptical or enthusiastic or somewhere in between, to participate in this practical conversation about technology and pedagogy.
