Visiting Writers Series: Brian Turner

The Visiting Writer’s series will welcome Brian Turner on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Gallery 1 of the Fine Arts Building.

Celebrated American poet, essayist, and U.S. Army veteran Brian Turner will share selections from his work, followed by a Q&A and book signing as part of the UA Little Rock School of Literary and Performing Arts Visiting Writers Series. During his visit, Turner, founding director of the University of Nevada, Reno Low-Residency MFA in Creative Writing will also meet with UA Little Rock creative writing students.

Turner is the author of five acclaimed poetry collections, including Here, Bullet and The Wild Delight of Wild Things, as well as the memoir My Life as a Foreign Country. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, National Geographic, and Harper’s, and he has been featured in the Academy Award–nominated documentary Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience. Among his many honors are a Guggenheim Fellowship, a USA Hillcrest Fellowship in Literature, the Amy Lowell Traveling Fellowship, the Poets’ Prize, and a Lannan Foundation Fellowship.
