Professor cummings presented his research on racial dog whistle politics, a kind of racial coding, that has exploded in recent years away from subtle “coding” and into outright attitudes exhibiting racial hatred and sexism . His panel focused on “Race and Democracy in Chains”; the conference theme was “People of Color and the Future of Democracy.”
