Bowen Fellows: Peer Mentors for Your First Year
Before First Week begins, every incoming Bowen Law student is paired with a Bowen Fellow. Bowen Fellows are accomplished upper-level students who serve as mentors, study leaders, and guides throughout your first semester.
Starting in First Week, your Bowen Fellow helps you navigate the transition to law school by leading your Student Success Team, sharing practical strategies for academic success, and connecting you with the people and resources that support your growth.
As part of the Bowen Student Success Program, Bowen Fellows help create a collaborative learning environment where new students build confidence, strengthen study skills, and develop habits that support success throughout law school.
Selected to Lead
Bowen Fellows are selected from outstanding upper-level students who demonstrate academic excellence, professionalism, leadership, and a genuine commitment to helping other students succeed.
Before First Week, Bowen Fellows complete specialized training to prepare them to mentor incoming students, lead Student Success Teams, facilitate guided study sessions, and connect students with academic and campus resources throughout the first year.
Supporting Your First Semester
Your Bowen Fellow stays connected with your Student Success Team throughout the first semester, providing guidance, encouragement, and accountability as you adjust to the demands of law school.
Student Success Teams meet regularly in small groups, creating opportunities to learn alongside classmates, practice essential study skills, and build lasting connections within the Bowen community.

Every incoming student is assigned to a Student Success Team during First Week. Each team includes four to six first-year students and is led by a trained Bowen Fellow throughout the first semester.
Working together in weekly sessions, Student Success Teams help you strengthen the study habits, legal reasoning, and professional skills that support success in law school and beyond.
Through your Student Success Team, you’ll:
• Learn with a small group of classmates
• Practice collaborative problem-solving
• Build independent learning skills
• Develop healthy study habits
• Stay accountable to your goals
• Earn SST Points by participating in campus activities
Together, your Student Success Team creates a supportive learning community where you’ll practice new skills, ask questions, and build confidence alongside your classmates.
