Patrick C. Harris joined the UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law as director of advocacy in 2022. He teaches trial advocacy and litigation courses and oversees Bowen’s advocacy programming, including the law school’s mock trial teams and adjunct faculty teaching Lawyering Skills I and II.
Before joining Bowen full time, Harris spent nearly 37 years with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas. During his career there, he served in leadership positions including acting U.S. attorney, first assistant U.S. attorney, criminal chief and senior litigation counsel. He prosecuted cases involving public corruption, white-collar and government fraud, RICO, murder, arson, and drug and firearm conspiracies.
Harris has extensive experience in trial and appellate advocacy. He has conducted oral arguments before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Eighth and 10th Circuits and served as a special U.S. attorney in the Northern District of Oklahoma and Western District of Tennessee. He also taught at Bowen as an adjunct instructor for two decades and has served as an instructor for the U.S. Department of Justice National Advocacy Institute.
