Xul Perez joined the faculty of the UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law in July 2026 as assistant professor of clinical education and director of the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. He directs and teaches in the clinic, where student attorneys represent low-income taxpayers in federal and state tax controversies, including audits, collections, appeals and U.S. Tax Court matters. His work emphasizes service, access to justice and preparing students to advocate with skill, compassion and cultural awareness.
Before joining Bowen, Perez practiced tax controversy law with Community Legal Aid’s Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic in Ohio, representing taxpayers in audits, collections, appeals and Tax Court matters. His professional experience also includes international tax practice, immigration law, a federal judicial externship and more than a decade of bilingual medical interpreting and community education.
Perez earned his J.D., magna cum laude, and Master of Taxation from the University of Akron. He also holds graduate degrees in theological studies, Bible exposition and church music, as well as a bachelor’s degree in practical theology.
