Alum, State’s First Female General Officer

Brigadier General Patricia Anslow, a 1997 graduate of UALR, has earned a promotion making her the first female general officer in the Arkansas National Guard.

“I think if you are true to yourself, true to your country, and your fellow soldiers, you will go far.” Anslow said during her promotion ceremony.

Anslow, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, entered UALR after her active duty ended and she transitioned into the National Guard.

She earned a B.S. degree in biology while pursuing a civilian career as chief of the planning and Environmental Division of the Army Corps of Engineers.

“I’m really excited to begin this wonderful, new chapter in my career,” she said.

As brigadier general, Anslow oversees the land and facilities at the guard’s 28,000-acre Camp Robinson Maneuver Training Center and serves as assistant adjutant general of the Arkansas Army National Guard.
