‘Songwriter’s Showcase’ features student compositions Nov. 8

The “Songwriter’s Showcase” will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, featuring the work of six student composers that will premiere during the first half of the show.

Following intermission, ceramicist and flutist Rey Ortega will premier “Maya Lullaby” by Resident Composer Dr. Robert Boury and Associate Professor Laura Amrhein.

Ortega will recreate ancient Mayan flutes using traditional building and firing techniques. He will also conduct a master class at 3 p.m., Nov. 8, in the Fine Arts Ceramics Studio.
